On September 19th, Felipe Miranda, China Region General Manager of Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile (SQM), a globally renowned lithium producer, visited Jiangsu University.
Li Hongbo, secretary of Jiangsu University Standing CPC Committee , met with Felipe Miranda, welcomed his visit and made in-depth talk with him on the cooperation between the Chilean Chemical and Mining Company and Jiangsu University, looking forward to strengthening the cooperation between the two parties.
Vice President Cai Yingfeng held talks with Felipe Miranda, where both parties discussed specific cooperation matters. Cai Yingfeng expressed that Jiangsu University is willing to strengthen cooperation with Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile (SQM) in areas such as talent cultivation, scientific research, and technological innovation, to implement cooperation projects, achieve mutual benefit, and propel bilateral cooperation to a new level.
Felipe Miranda stated that China is a leader in the global clean energy industry, while Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile (SQM) has been involved in the development and processing of lithium resources for many years and possesses extensive experience in related fields. He expressed his hope to continuously deepen exchanges and cooperation, thereby injecting new momentum into the development of clean energy industries in both countries. Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile (SQM) will invite faculty and students from relevant fields in Jiangsu University to visit Chile, where they will tour local lithium extraction facilities, engage in comprehensive exchanges with industry experts, and gain a deep understanding of the entire lithium production process in Chile.
Xu Bu, Chairman of the Institute of Global Development and Security, emphasized that China is Chile's largest trading partner, and the two countries have maintained friendly relations. Jiangsu University hopes to build on exchange visits to deepen cooperation between the university and Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile (SQM), thereby contributing to the continuous improvement and upgrading of pragmatic cooperation between the two countries.
Relevant leaders from the Industry-University-Research Cooperation Office, Student Affairs Office, International Relations Office, and the School of Chemical Engineering participated in the meeting.
