On March 29th , the university-level demonstration class "College English II" hosted by the School of Foreign Languages was successfully held in Room 401 of Sanjiang Building. The demonstration teaching was conducted by Fan Lin, a teacher from the Department of Basic College English, and some teachers from School of Foreign Languages observed the teaching.
This demonstration class focused on the topic of “Being Entrepreneurial” from Unit 3 of “New Horizon College English, Book 4”. Fan Lin guided students in discussing the characteristics, qualities, and essential skills that entrepreneurs should possess through teaching activities such as picture displays and audio-visual materials. Additionally, she introduced relevant cultural background knowledge related to the article, including the background of FedEx Corporation, to cultivate students' ability to discuss the spirit of entrepreneurship in English. This open class not only enhanced students' English proficiency but also bolstered their cultural confidence in national brands, fostering an entrepreneurial mindset among the students.
“College English II” is an obligatory public course for all undergraduate students. The course adheres to the “Guidelines for Ideological and Political Teaching in College Foreign Languages”, continuously and deeply integrating ideological and political education into the curriculum, combining foreign language education with ideological and political education, and cultivating students' patriotic sentiments and comprehensive foreign language application abilities. In this demonstration class, students actively participated, creating a lively classroom atmosphere, and the teaching effect was significant, earning unanimous praise from both participating teachers and students.
