On March 26th , Prof. Shi Weiguo from Shandong University was invited to deliver a lecture titled "The Inheritance of Traditional Culture and the Construction of Native Language Culture" in Room 3307 of No. 3 Jingjiang Building. The lecture was hosted by Li Xia, Deputy Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, and was attended by nearly 60 faculty members and students from the School of Foreign Languages.
Prof. Shi Weiguo's lecture explored the geographical distribution of traditional culture research, focusing on the collective characteristics of cultural celebrities in our country. With representative figures from the field as the main thread, it detailed their main research fields and achievements, illustrating the regional characteristics of traditional culture research distribution. He proposed that, in the context of "Chinese culture going global" and "telling the Chinese story well," foreign language learners should build a professional, knowledge-based, and cultural system from their school days, cultivate communication and writing skills, and hone translation abilities. Only by integrating traditional culture with native culture, achieving endogenous development, can one go further. Through multidimensional research, Prof. Shi conveyed his ideas with a discourse that combines theory with practice, deepening teachers' and students' understanding of the inheritance of traditional culture and the construction of native culture. After the lecture, Prof. Shi actively answered questions from the audience. Attendees expressed that they had benefited greatly from the lecture.
