Yale University President Visit Tsinghua

The President of Yale University, Richard C. Levin, led a delegation to Beijing on May 6-10, which coincides with Yale's 300th anniversary and the 100th anniversary of the Yale-China Association.

On May 9, Dr. Levin met with Tsinghua president Wang Dazhong and had a friendly talk with him. Dr. Levin presented a speech after the meeting focusing on global universities and the influence of American universities on economy at the School of Economics and Management at Tsinghua. While his wife, Jean A. Levin gave a lecture on literature at the school of humanities and social sciences simultaneously. She is the director of undergraduate studies, directed studies program and lecturer in English at Yale University.

The delegation visited Beijing University, Tsinghua University and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in the Chinese capital. Apart from Beijing, Levin will also visit Hong Kong, Changsha, Shanghai and Ningbo.

Levin was in Beijing as the guest of Peking University. Chinese President Jiang Zemin also met with Levin and had friendly talks with him on the development of education, the fostering of talents, Sino-US exchanges and co-operation in education.
