He Jinliang, a professor at Tsinghua University's Department of Electrical Engineering and the director of the Institute of High Voltage and Insulation Technology, was elected as a CIGRE Fellow for his outstanding contributions to the field of lightning and overvoltage protection technology in power systems at the opening ceremony of the CIGRE Paris Session 2024 on August 25.

He Jinliang has served the CIGRE Study Committee C4 — Power system technical performance for many years, and as the convener, he has successively led three working groups within the Committee C4.
Established in 1921 in Paris, France, CIGRE is a global community committed to the collaborative development and sharing of end-to-end power system expertise. The CIGRE Fellow award is attributed for those experts participating in the activities of the study committees, and providing a lead role in the technical works of the study committees, with a maximum of five awards presented every two years. Only 35 experts worldwide have been granted this accolade to date.
