Shin Ni Chen from Malaysia graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Tsinghua University. She often said, “At Tsinghua, everyone has unlimited potential.” During her time at Tsinghua, she discovered her potential through the university’s vast resources and diverse opportunities. As a pharmacy student, a student journalist, a competitive swimmer, and a leader in various clubs, she immersed herself in different fields and discovered her unique strengths and passions.

One of the most transformative experiences for Shin Ni was her involvement in sharing Tsinghua’s stories. She first joined the student journalists’ team online and produced videos about her online studies during the pandemic.She soon realized that her videos encouraged and resonated with many, inspiring her to share more Tsinghua stories. Throughout this journey, she received the Global Student Ambassador award, which was a significant milestone in her four years at Tsinghua. This recognition validated her efforts and motivated her to continue her work. Leading the Global Village event was another meaningful experience. Participating in and leading an event that showcased her culture was incredibly meaningful and taught her the importance of doing her best and accepting the results, even when not everything is within her control.

Shin Ni believes that the most important factor in innovation is curiosity. She trusts that a curious mind drives one to explore, question, and eventually create something new. This belief was reinforced by her diverse experiences at Tsinghua, where she was always eager to learn and try new things. Curiosity led her to delve into different fields, whether it was through her academic pursuits in pharmacy, her work as a student journalist, or her leadership roles. It was this same curiosity that fueled her passion for storytelling and connecting with others, and ultimately led her to innovation in her projects and initiatives.

Overall, the greatest takeaway during her time at Tsinghua was the opportunity to explore and develop her potential in various fields, and to gain confidence and clarity in her career aspirations. As she continues her studies and pursues a Ph.D. in Social and Administrative Pharmacy, she is excited about the challenges and opportunities ahead. This journey has taught her to be brave and pursue her dreams, as nothing is impossible until you try.
