Eighteen-year-old Si Haoyu from Tianjin, filled with excitement and a hint of nervousness, stepped into the gates of Tianjin University accompanied by his father. He will be majoring in Microelectronics. As he embarks on this new semester, he hopes to adapt well to dormitory life and build harmonious relationships with his roommates. Academically, he aspires to truly absorb knowledge from university lectures and continually enrich himself. He also hopes to stay true to his aspirations, work diligently, and strive for excellence throughout his four years, making his college life fulfilling and meaningful.
For Gao Yi, a student from the School of Precision Instrument and Opto-electronics Engineering, Tianjin University has always been his dream school. Facing his upcoming college life, Gao Yi hopes to meet like-minded friends and acquire solid skills in academics. Upon entering Tianjin University, the first people he wants to thank are the teachers who have patiently guided him and the classmates who have accompanied him along the way. He also expresses gratitude to his parents, who have silently supported and encouraged him, as well as to himself for the hard work he put in during his high school years. To his college self, he says: “Study hard and keep going!”
Yang Shujing is enrolled in the Synthetic Biology program. Her mother believes that the most important thing during college is for her child to be happy. She hopes Shujing will gain both friendships and knowledge at Tianjin University. As she sends her off to college, she feels a mix of excitement and reluctance. Her wish for her daughter's four years at university is for all her dreams to come true. She feels immense pride and trust in Tianjin University as a platform where her child can thrive.
Wu Ningxiang, a student in the 2024 Materials Science program, and Liu Yifei, a 2023 Mechanical Engineering student, served as volunteers for this year’s orientation activities. Their motivation to participate stemmed from the warm support they received from senior students when they were freshmen. They hope to pass on this warmth to the incoming students at Tianjin University. Seeing parents’ and new students’ questions answered brings them genuine happiness. To the new students, Wu Ningxiang hopes they can fully enjoy college life, while Liu Yifei wishes Tianjin University a happy 130th anniversary and hopes the university continues to grow stronger and better.
Wu Yujing, who will be majoring in Microelectronics, feels a bit nervous and apprehensive. She believes the biggest difference between college and high school life is that college is not just about academics but also about balancing interpersonal relationships and social life. Over the next four years at Tianjin University, she hopes to become braver. On one hand, she aims to improve her communication skills and connect with like-minded peers. On the other hand, she plans to leverage Tianjin University’s platform to gain more research experience and enrich her academic journey. Additionally, Wu Yujing hopes to cultivate a personal hobby during her time at university, as she believes having a hobby can help her live a better life.
Chen Yuefei, an Architecture major from Chongqing, chose Tianjin University primarily because of its advantageous location. Looking ahead to the next four years, she hopes her studies will be manageable, the cafeteria food more delicious, and that she can make more friends who share her interests. As she steps into university, Chen Yuefei has set some small goals for herself, such as passing the CET-4 and CET-6 English exams and avoiding failing any courses. To her incoming college self, she says: “Keep going! I believe in you!”
