Tianjin University Welcomes Over 5,100 Freshmen for the 2025 Fall Semester

On September 6, Tianjin University welcomed 5,106 freshmen to the Campus, marking the official start of the 2025 fall semester. Amid the refreshing autumn air, the campus was alive with energy as students from across the country embarked on their new academic journey.

To create a smooth and memorable experience, the university prepared a wide range of orientation services. Each school organized themed activities and distributed welcome packages, while volunteers provided assistance with registration, luggage, and campus guidance. The combination of vibrant banners, enthusiastic service, and personalized arrangements underscored Tianjin University’s commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive community.

Innovation was also a highlight of this year’s orientation. For the first time, driverless shuttle buses operated along fixed routes, transporting students and families between main entrances and dormitories. Volunteers on board explained the technology, offering newcomers a firsthand glimpse of the university’s pioneering research culture. “Before my first lecture, I’ve already experienced frontier technology on campus,” said Kang Yexian, a freshman from the College of Intelligence and Computing.

Freshmen expressed appreciation for the thoughtful efforts of their schools. Some colleges prepared commemorative shirts, mascots, or message boards for students to write down their aspirations, while others provided detailed materials about academic programs. These efforts not only highlighted the academic identity of each school but also encouraged students to integrate quickly into campus life. Parents accompanying their children praised the efficient arrangements, from clear maps and schedules to cultural displays introducing the history and spirit of Tianjin University.

The day’s activities captured the essence of the university’s educational philosophy, combining tradition and modernity, academic rigor and community care. With the start of the new semester, more than 5,100 freshmen are set to carry forward the Peiyang spirit, embracing both challenges and opportunities as they begin their studies. Supported by faculty, peers, and the university community, they now embark on a journey that will shape their future and contribute to Tianjin University’s enduring role as a cradle of talent and innovation.
