Good news! Team Tianjin U + has passed the mid-term evaluation of the 3rd China International Solar Decathlon competition (SDC2021) and successfully entered the final with the best score among the finalists. Now please follow us to check out the highlights of the scheme!
Asymmetric V-Roof
Formation
In this sustainable design, the strategy of prioritizing passive design and optimizing active design is implemented. With the innovation of the solar building integration technology, the asymmetric V-shaped roof is designed to maximize passive solar gain in winter, while providing sufficient space for active solar energy use.
Technology strategy
Overall technical strategy
In terms of overall technology strategy, the R-CELLS emphasizes the technology concept of "positive energy, full cycle and zero emission". Positive energy refers to the surplus of site energy; full cycle refers to the internal recycling of energy and water, as well as the recyclability of building materials; zero emission refers to the net zero emission of CO2 in building operation and zero emission of domestic wastewater from bathing and cooking.
In the R-CELLS, the roof provides ample space for the PV/T and PV system. Transparent thin film PV and vertical axis wind turbine are installed on the north extension of the roof to get sunlight through to the back yard.
The attached sun-space, together with phase changing material on its floor, and the water storage envelope attached to its interior glazing facade, moderates temperature fluctuation in summer and provides passive solar radiative heating in winter.
Prefabrication + customization
Variable combination module
In terms of architectural design concept and method, R-CELLS adapts prefabricated and customizable modules.
Based on the design principle and technological innovation of the R-CELLS house prototype, the scalable application schemes have been proposed for the new rural and urban housing in northern China. Optimized design schemes with the consideration of physical performance, solar energy utilization efficiency, life cycle environmental impact and cost are explored to adapt to different environment and cost conditions.
We will continue to work hard entering into the next stage of the project and presenting the best results! 2021, here we are!
