Tianjie ZHANG is a professor at the School of Architecture, Tianjin University. She is also in the role of deputy director of the Center for International Affairs, as well as deputy director of the Institute of Urban Heritage Preservation and Regeneration. She obtained her PhD from the National University of Singapore with full fellowship and President’s Scholarship. During 2014-2015, she visited the School of Architecture, University of Virginia supported by the State Scholarship Fund of China. She has been nominated as a committee member for Theory & History Committee of Chinese Urban and Rural Planning, Theory & History Committee of Chinese Society of Landscape Architecture, and Chinese Society of Industrial Heritage.
Professor Zhang’s teaching and research interests include trans-cultural cityscape and landscape, heritage preservation and cultural tourism, urban regeneration and rural revitalization, spatial performance and spatial justice. She has been widely published in leading Chinese journals and English books on these subjects, and has given more than 30 English lectures in Asia and North America. As a supervisor for international postgraduate students, she is also interested in urban studies for Sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia and Latin America. She has been granted 3 national research foundations of China as principal, and awarded international funds from ARI (Singapore), AAS (USA), SAH (USA), to name a few. Under her supervision, her students have won considerable Best Paper Awards in IUSAM, TSINGRUN Competition, and so forth.
