Dr. Xin Shanchao received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the School of Architecture & Fine Art, Dalian University of Technology in 2008, as well as his Master of Architecture degree from the same university in 2011. In 2016 he obtained his Ph. D from the School of Architecture, Tianjin University.
As a lecturer for the School of Architecture, Tianjin University, Dr. Xin Shanchao leads research in the key program “Research on the Optimization Method of Modular Design in Architecture Based on Digital Information Technology”, supported by the Natural Science Foundation of China, Program Permission Number: 51608353. He is also the Principal Investigator of the Program supported by the Natural Science Foundation of China: “Research on Architecture ‘Form-Space’ Generating Method Optimization Based on System Analysis Method” and “Research on Architecture ‘Design with Construction’ Modular System Based on Low Carbon Objective”. Dr. Shanchao primarily researches on architecture design & theory, architectural design method, Form Generating & Space Operation Theory, and Modular Architecture. He has published 8 articles in Core academic Journals and is the Chief Editor/ Editorial board member of 6 books.
Dr. Shanchao can be credited for guiding students who have won international and domestic architectural design competitions, the students received the following awards: 2018 International VELUX Award (Global winner; Category: Daylight Investigations), 2018 Skyscraper Competition (Honarable Mention), 2017 The Architect Magazine - TEAMZERO Award Architecture Student Design Competition (1st Prize & 3rd Prize), 2017 Sunrise Student Competition in Architectural Design (Honorable Mention) and 2016 China Architectural Education / TSINGRUN Award Students' Paper Competition (1st Prize).
