Song Kun is a renowned Professor Party Secretary and Dean of the School of Architecture, Tianjin University in China. He is also the director of Tianjin Ecological Engineering Center of Urban Renewal. His research interests are Urban and residential community renewal, Sustainable Community in the North Area of China, Green building and assessment system, the Chinese modern architectural heritage, living environment and inhabitant form, and architectural education. Dr Kun has presided over and participated in more than 10 national key research and development projects, natural science funds, social science funds and many other projects, he has also published more than100 papers in the national academic journals，presided over and participated in the compilation of 6 national and local (Tianjin) related industry standards and norms, and completed several technology promotion and demonstration projects.
The establishment of Tianjin Ecological Engineering Center of Urban Renewal was officially approved in 2015. It is the first provincial and ministerial engineering center engaged in the research and development and promotion of old city reconstruction technology in China. It is also the main technical support unit of Tianjin in this field. The center mainly undertakes important national and Tianjin scientific research projects in ecological planning, green building and green building materials, formulates relevant industry standards and norms, and promotes the transformation of relevant scientific and technological achievements through construction demonstration projects.
