Kong Yuhang is a nationally renowned Professor of the School of Architecture at Tianjin University. With a pioneered influence on Chinese architectural education, Prof. Kong holds a series of academic positions including the Chairman of the organizing committee of UIA-HYP Cup International Student Architectural Design Competition, Member of the International Competition Committee at Union of International Associations (UIA-ICC), Member of ARCASIA committee on architectural education (ACAE), Member of the Architecture Discipline Review Panel under the State Council Academic Degrees Committee, Member of Chinese National Board of Architecture Accreditation(NBAA), Vice Chairman of Steering Committee for Architecture Teaching in Higher Educations Institutions, Ministry of Education of PRC etc. Meanwhile, he serves as the Co-chief Editor of Architecture & DETAIL journal, and Editorial Board Member of several famous Chinese architecture journals including Architect, New Architecture, World Architecture, Chinese Architectural Education, etc.
Prof. Kong pursues research on architecture design & theory and nonlinear organic architecture. In recent ten years, he led a team of faculty members from Tianjin University who won the key program of the Natural Science Foundation of China for three times. He has published two monographs and more than 50 articles in Core academic Journals on the discourse of architecture design and connotation of architecture discipline. Worked at Tianjin University and Dalian University of Technology for last 30 years, Prof. Kong has been recognized for education excellence with numerous teaching awards at the school, state and national levels. Most recently, Prof. Kong was honored with the Chinese Architectural Education Award by the Architecture Society of China (ASC) for his teaching career.
