Abstract:
In the 20th-century Confucian rejuvenation movement aiming ideally at reconstructing a civilized China, Neo-Confucians developed a systematic theory of Confucian humanist view of life realm by introducing western theoretical results into Confucianism, which synthesizes universal ontology, theory of human nature and theory of life realm. Based on the above, they extended and held firmly a modern new form of traditional Confucian philosophy of human life. According to the agreement between most typical Neo-Confucian theorists, such as Feng Youlan, who contributed the “four realms of life understanding”, Fang Dongmei, who introduced the theory of “two grades and six realms”, and Tang Junyi, who advocated the view of “nine realms of mental feeling”, the general characteristic and theoretical objective of modern Neo-Confucian humanist theory of life realm can be concluded as follows: carrying forward Confucian humanism, highlighting the spiritual space of life, realizing an internal transcendence of spirit, illustrating a surpassed realm of life and abiding by moral logocentrism.
