Abstract:
A primary building, the Throne Room in the Daming Palace of the Tang Dynasty was both the emperor's living palace and the site he met members of the Imperial Academy on significant national or military issues, where most important and secret imperial edicts were composed. It was in this throne room that Emperor of Xuanzong met Li Bai the great Chinese poet. Curiously enough, it was in the Yanying Hall that the emperor discussed significant national or military issues with the prime minister but in the throne room that he met members of the Imperial Academy and authorized them with the power to compose important decrees, which resulted in another decisionmaking center of political power including the Throne room and the Imperial Academy. Moreover, imperial banquets, joint poem singing and compilation of classics also took place in the Throne Room.
