Abstract:
During the development of the 20th century Chinese literature, numerous serials of Yan’an literature and art compiled and published in the 1940’s not only declared and completed the construct and historical description of Yan’an literature and art but also “established the orientation of literature and art of new China” and national norm of aesthetics and order of literary genres by a combination of political power and ideological goal. Among these Yan’an publications, the Serials of Northern Literature and Serials of Chinese People’s Literature compiled respectively by Zhou Yang and Zhou Erfu typically represented the editorial conception, selective criteria and ideological goal of current serials of Yan’an literature and art. Through deliberate collection and classified description of literary history, these serials of Yan’an literature and art helped construct resources and norm of Yan’an literature and art and “new people’s literature art”, and became the leading academic basis and resources of Yan’an literature and art and the 20th century Chinese literature in compiling historical documents of Yan’an literature and art, iedition investigation, text collation and “subtext” studies.
