Abstract:
As the greatest of literary historical events in the 20th century, the shaping and evolution of Yan'an literature and art had so significant an influence on Chinese culture, literature and politics as to wholesomely establish the construct and orientation of contemporary literature in China and a profound influence around the world as Chinese writers and literary theorists’ special contribution to global literature. However, for years few studies of and little attention to Yan’an literature and art appeared to have been offered in the field of Chinese contemporary literature, and its historical achievements and great influence received no scientific, justly or systematic investigation and evaluation. This was due to the double restrictions from current ideology and contemporary trends of literature and art. In present days, it is of significant theoretical value and realistic value to restore study of Yan’an literature and art to provide powerful dynamic resources and spiritual system for upgrading the soft strength of our country. Nevertheless, a restudy of Yan’an literature and art calls for constructive perspective and totally novel approach to take into account both the subjectivity of Yan’an literature and art and complex relationship between Yan’an literature and art and the 20th century Chinese literature.
