Abstract:
As a result of educational reform in the late Qing Dynasty, local chronicles came into being as a category of local documents, of which Shaanxi ranked among the most active editing provinces. As a miniature of local chronicles throughout the country, these local chronicles differ in stylistic rules and layout and simplicity and scrutiny in contents. Like the counterparts in the other parts of the country, local chronicles in Shaanxi include great amounts of historical materials authentically recording changes, status quo of economic development and conventions and customs of different corners in modern Shaanxi society, whose value as historical materials are to be further exploited and utilized.
