Like other disciplines, editing science also has its academic border. The former world of editing largely studied a micro editing science based on the theory of “twostyle edition”. This delimited the scholarship of edition within a very narrow space, covering a much more limited domain than the reality did, which considerably affected the scientificity and growth of editing science. Now it is high time to extend frontier of the scholarship to a macro editing science in terms of the “theory of fivestyle edition”, reestablish its theoretical system and expand its disciplinary covering so as to exploit practical scientificity and activate strong vitality out of the editing science to bring to an end the current embarrassing situation of weak impact and low acceptability.
