Lord of Xu’s Epitaph in the Tang Dynasty, a Sample of Country Estate around Heshuo in the Late Tang Dynasty

Abstract:
Lord of Xu’s Epitaph, which appeared in the Selective Notes to the Epitaphs Unearthed in Baoding, provided evidential materials for structures of property and estate in the interior of the super landowner’s country estate in the Tang Dynasty. The relationships within estate economy under the land ownership in the late Tang Dynasty revealed in the epitaph offers a relatively complete sample of the country estate for studying the super landownership in northern China in the late Tang Dynasty, especially in the principalities of Heshuo.
