Abstract:
The “Rebellion in Fengtian” was a great political turmoil in the reign of Emperor of Dezong in the Tang Dynasty. The turmoil was by no means accidental but a necessary result from the prolonged contradiction and conflicts between the Tang court and the principalities northwest of the Capital. The rebellion led to a military vacuum in the areas northwest of the Capital and the serious border crisis in the Imperial Title of Zhenyuan, as a consequence of which the eunuchs came to participate in the control of troops. However, Emperor of Dezong basically removed the military threat to the Tang court by the principalities northwest of the Capital by putting down the “Rebellion in Fengtian”, reestablishing the Tang court’s military authority by strengthening the Shence army.
