Abstract:
A 17thcentury British politician, Locke’s political theory presented in Book II of On Government used to be the theoretical representation for “Glorious Revolution”, hence its distinctive bourgeois character. Meanwhile, since British Revolution marked the beginning of human modern politics, Locke’s theory also contained profound modernity. The modernity of Locke’s theory advocated deenchantment and secularization of politics, esteem of a rule of abstract law and separation and balance of social power, revealing the primary political logic to lawbased government.
