Abstract:
Between the late 1940’s and early 1950’s, psychological warfare became an important strategy of the two sides of Cold War, the United States and the Soviet Union. The founding of the US Committee of Psychological Warfare Strategy in 1951 was a leading milestone of Truman administration’s wholesomely planning and implementing psychological warfare abroad. When Eisenhower took office, he established the Committee of Action Coordination by reorganizing the Committee of Psychological Warfare, speeding up the steps of carrying out the psywar action plan and programs and bringing US psywar into a new stage. Thus it is of great significance to understanding US psywar abroad and deepening study of the history of Cold War to investigate the establishment and development of US administrative organs of psychological warfare in the early days of Cold War.
