Abstract:
Xiliu Warehouse and Chengyi Warehouse were two important national warehouses in the outskirts of Chang’an, the capital of the West Han Dynasty. Unfortunately, the specific locations of these two warehouses found no accurate records in the recorded history. However, a careful investigation of relevant documents and archeological materials has revealed that the Xiliu Warehouse was located to the west end of the wicket bridge of the town of Chang’an, that is, in the fields of the Liangsidu Village of Qindu District, metropolitan Xianyang., and the Chengyi Warehouyse, in the Xitou Village of Pucheng county. The construction of these two warehouses had been intended to transport rations to northern borders. When the border was peaceful and stable, they served naturally as the ideal warehouses for the capital population.
