Since the new century, transformative changes have taken place in study of the theory of literary history. A new pattern of literary history study is taking shape with new terms and conceptions introduced, influential results of study emerged, and a benign interaction between theoretical and practical studies. The fundamental prerequisites for the shaping of this pattern are conversion of problem consciousness and renewal of stydy means. Moreover, the globalizing context will certainly be an essential factor to influence the current and future advancement and orientation of study of literary theory. Therefore, study of the theory of Chinese literary history should emphasize the subjective consciousness of spirit of national culture, and highlight the spiritual character of Chinese literature so as to nurture a selfconscious sense of theoretical innovation and develop a theoretical system of nationcharacteristic philosophy of Chinese literary history.
