Abstract:
Confucian poetics represented the mental intelligence derived from Confucian consciousness of propriety and music in the Confucian founders’ practice of observing The Collection of 300 Classical Poems in terms of politics and ethics. Empirical scarcity determined the sole spiritual interest and monotonous ideology of Confucian poetics. Under the general circumstances of “siding emphasis on Confucianism”, Confucian poetics was classicized into a complete theoretical discourse well known as “poetry education”, which based its value on “irony”, including satire, convention, and enlightenment, hence starting its course of generalization. The result of the generalization of Confucian poetics manifested not only laxing the ideological intelligence of Confucian poetics but also creating extra difficulty for advancement of Chinese literature.
