Abstract:
The "mood" of the Xin Tian You in northern Shaanxi as the highlight of this form of local melody is embodied in two characteristic forms, "mood-starting" and "mood-associating". The "mood" in the Xin Tian You is comparable with that in the Book of Songs because the former rose no later than the latter and because the formal structure and ways of expression of the former are of an original nature. In terms of the "mood" in the Xin Tian You we can see that the "mood" in the Book of Songs has nothing to do with nobility. "The meaning sustaining still after the text is over" should be another historical characteristic of the Book of Songs.
