Du Pu had a very deep sense of isolation. And he became even more self-conscious of artistically refining this psychology of his in his late days. “A lonely scholar in face of the world " was his sophisticated generalization of the relationship between the poet and the world. This contemplation influenced profoundly his artistic thinking, which became the source of inspiration in many of his masterpieces.
