Abstract:
Wang Chonglu is one of the most representative of prose writers in contemporary China. The charm of Wang's prose is knitted in its structure of tension, which gathers and radiates in frequent transition from scholar to official, from study to nature, from progressiveness to conservativeness and from literary style to vernacular style. It is this structure of tension that makes his prose extensive in vision, full of contradiction and conflict, powerful in beauty and impressive to the audience. However, there are weaknesses in the structure of tension of Wang's prose, which calls for improvement in self-consciousness, sense of balance, flexibility and degree of harmony.
