Abstract:
The North Song Dynasty witnessed the phase of the Song poetics’s transformation from simply following the heels of the Tang poetry and imitating the ancient style to establishment by its own, and also the phase of the current poets’ steady selection from poetic classics. The fall and rise of Du Pu’s poetry in the dynasty owed not only to internal factors in the evolution of poetics but also to external factors in cultural selection. Meanwhile Du’s poetry as the classics in turn reshaped the distinctions of the Song poetry. Hence an interaction between Du’s poetics and the Song poetics.
