Abstract:
The number of paintings which unearthed from Khara-Khoto is quite abundant. The styles of those paintings are diverse. It is an unavoidable research object for writing the history of Tangut art and even the history of the cultural exchange through the Silk Road. Chinese and foreign scholars have shifted from broad style classification to detailed case studies of KharaKhoto Hanstyle paintings over the past century, enabling us to reveal the acceptance of Hanstyle art in the northern border regions of Xia empire. Continuing the comprehensive study of the singlestyle paintings can benefit the study of art works unearthed from KharaKhoto and even the study of Xia empire art. We may confirm whether there is a pure “Xia paradigm”.
