Abstract:
Body and use, ontology and Gong Fu , not only represent the basic methods of NeoConfucianism, but also the basic principles of the construction of theoretical systems by philosophers. However from a historical perspective they have the characteristics of successively starting and generating each other. In the history of Chinese thought, “body” first appeared as a noun referring to the body and appearance, and later became a verb by the conscious use of human beings, with the meaning of a certain nature, of course, also representing the universality of this nature; but when this verb is renominized, the “body” constantly highlights the meaning of the subject and uses the subject as the basis of its existence. After the introduction of Buddhism, due to the need to grasp the integrity of the world of life, the “body” became the “natural body” of the objectification; correspondingly, the “use” originally used as the attribute of the “body” has become a phenomenon of the existence of “body”. However, if the meaning based on the subject of “body” is used, then “use” can be used as a phenomenon of quasiobjectification, and there is also a “Gong Fu” that refers to the performance of the subject. This process is not only the result of the development of Chinese culture itself, but also the theoretical expression of the integration of Confucianism, Xuan and Buddhism.
