China will accomplish the tasks of the current antipoverty program in 2020. It will be proved a great achievement but not the end of antipoverty actions in this country, and there will be more antipoverty actions after 2020 which will be longterm, with higher goals and more complicated actions. The social assistance system will play a more significant role in the future of antipoverty actions, and thus its function should be reinforced by further reform and development. The main requirements of further social assistance reform should be, based on the raised social assistance goals, capacity building, institutional improvement, administration optimization and legislation progress.
