Abstract:
Ding Ling’s letters, which are now publically known, are basically collected in Ding Ling’s Letters(1986) and Ding Ling’s Complete Works(2001). But a few of them are still scattered in newspapers and magazines from during the Republic of China, some of which are important documents which are not mentioned or included in all kinds of Ding Ling’s letters and research materials, like “A Letter from Ding Ling” published in the Hankou Journal of Public Opinion in June 1935, fragments of Ding Ling’s Letters in the article “Recent News of Ding Ling” in Overwind in October 1935 and a letter from Ding Ling to Yao Pengzi in News in April 1946. These scattered letters are important materials reflecting Ding Ling’s life, thought and creation during her “prison” period in Nanjing in the 1930s and on the eve of liberation. They are of great literary value for the study of Ding Ling.
