Abstract:
During the Five Dynasties and Ten kingdoms period, there were five cities, Guangzhou belonging to the Nanhan Regime, Quanzhou and Fuzhou belonging to the Min Regime, Mingzhou and Hangzhou belonging to the Wuyue Regime, that had become the port cities that represent “preearly economic globalization”. The five cities made an idea vicissitude of trade first and maritime commerce focused in south of China.Also the five cities had become an important trade port of the Maritime Silk Road. The longest overseas trade route was in Guangzhou which extend to presentday Iraq and other places. Fuzhou and Quanzhou had frequent contacts with Southeast Asia, Japan and the Korean Peninsula. Hangzhou and Mingzhou had frequent contacts with the northeast China Region, North Korea, South Korea, Japan and other places. At that time of China, most export commodities were porcelain and silks and most import commodities were spices and luxury goods. Every political power, a small maritime country which belonged to a separatist regime, paid high attention to commerce. They thought that a country should base its trade in the Maritime Silk Road. There was a regioncompetition relationship between these small countries that laid a foundation for the booming of trade in the Maritime Silk Road on the southeast coast of China after the Song Dynasty.
