Abstract:
Huang Zhen is a representative figure with a connecting role in the academic history of the Southern Song Dynasty, and his masterpiece Huang Shi Ri Chao(Huang’s Daily Notes), as his reading notes of the ancient works of all four parts, further perfected the writing of textual research notes in the Southern Song Dynasty. He combined theory and textual criticism to study and analyze the works of Confucian classics and the works of the philosophers. The analysis of Huang Shi Ri Chao shows the Southern Song scholars openmindedness and attention to philosophical discussion in the process of academic research as well as their use of textual criticism, discrimination, and advocation of the spirit of suspicion to differentiate between the true and the false. It helps to clarify the relationship between the Han school of classical philology and NeoConfucianism, which is of great significance to grasp the track of academic development after the Song Dynasty.
