Abstract:
Development and cooperation on energy and finance are the two main themes in the strategy of the Silk Road Economic Belt. Taking into account the unique energy strategy characteristics of the west, the paper puts forward the idea of building a western energy financial center, and analyzes the spatial choice of it from the perspective of financial geography, then concludes that Xi’an has potential advantage. On the basis of financial development, economic development and transportation and communication facilities as traditional indicators, three new indicators are introduced: new energy resources and industrial scale, human resources and technological innovation, urban livable environment. The paper constructs an evaluation index system, and uses factor analysis to measure the relative superiority of key cities in the west, in which Xi’an’s comparative advantage has been proved again. Finally, the article puts forward that Xi’an should make full use of its own advantages, and combine the financial and energy elements together, seize the strategic opportunity of economic belt construction to accelerate the construction of the western energy financial center.
