The Socialist Plutonomy with Chinese characteristics is an economic theory based on the basic principles of Marxist political economics and integrating experience of Chinese reform and practice of opening up. The purpose of putting forward such a theoretical system by summing up the chinese Mode from its socialist practices is two fold: to further guide economic construction and development in practice and to enrich and expand the Contemporary Marxist political economics in theory. The necessity and urgency of putting it forward is that, on the one hand, research, teaching and education on political economics are still marginalized or selfmarginalized. On the other hand, with our reform and opening practice for nearly forty years, the exploration of a “Chinese Model and Chinese Road”, deepening the reform of economic system in an allround way, adapting and leading the New Norm economy and addressing the global financial crisis, the abundant source materials from practice and favorable opportunity, at present, await the establishment of a theoretical system. The principles of establishing the Socialist Plutonomy with Chinesecharacteristics are four “musts”: we must adhere to the guiding position of Marxism political economics; we must adhere to reflecting the general laws of Marxist political economics; we must adhere to draw scientific and reasonable parts from western economic theories; we must adhere to the foothold in the vivid practice and successful experience of China’s reform and opening up. Only then, can the four transformations of the theoretical system be realized smoothly from practice to theory, from fragmentization to systematization, from marginalization to essentialization and from indigenization to universalization. Therefore, this paper is a theoretical thought over this matter.
