Abstract:
This paper will discuss the principle and direction of the interpretation of the names of the ancientswith case studies. I will propose the foundation of the interpretation is the sematic link between the original name and the courteous name, and we cannot get an interpretation of the names without the semantic link. The interpretation of names should be simple and direct, with a solid foundation. We should pay more attention to the excavated documents, because they can provide new materials, new evidence and new thinking for our interpretation of the names of ancients.
