Abstract:
Yi Yuan Zhi Yan reflects Wang Shizhen’s early literary thought. The book has multiple versions, complex processes and the number of volumes is not the same.Wang Shizhen has repeatedly revised the book, but regretted the works of his early years when he was older.He regarded Yi Yuan Zhi Yan is as an “undetermined book before forty”.He regretted the content of “Learn Shi Shuo” and “denounce the present and praise antiquity” in his book. Surprisingly, on the one hand, Wang Shizhen regreted the works of his early years, on the other hand, Yi Yuan Zhi Yan has been reprinted. When the “document for substance” and the “author’s new intentions” have a contradiction, the author’s new intentions will have no effect on readers.The negation of Yi Yuan Zhi Yan during Wang Shizhen’s old age led to an argument about whether his early works are superior to the older.
