Abstract:
Seal script as a decorative character in times of the Sui and Tang Dynasties differed considerably from that in the PreQin and Qin days. Among other things, some versions of seal script showed modernistic characteristics because of influence of character fonts in later times. A historical and evolutionary analysis of the writing and structural features of modernistic seal script presents two types of modernistic seal script, that is, modernistic font and modernistic usage of characters. Therefore, a study of modernization of character forms helps in a way to explore the developmental phenomena and relationship between words and expressions in historical documents.
