Abstract:
As a vital term in the history of Marxist party theoretical construction, the party character originated from Marx and Engels’s classical works, mainly referring to the class character in theoretical and political activities. However, it was Lenin who stereotyped the connotation of the term party character by using party character either for selfconsciousness in opposition between materialism and idealism or for the party member’s attitude towards the party organization. In the theoretical documents of Chinese Communist Party construction, the term party character was formally shaped in times of Yan’an. At that time, the Chinese Communist Party’s varied expressions of connotation of the term brought the understanding of party character into an organic integration between ideologicaltheoretical methodology and organizational form. After becoming national government, the Chinese Communist Party further expanded and deepened the connotation of the term party character, especially with reference to the individual party member’s style, which is of more and more importance to the integrity of the Party’s theory of party character.
