Abstract:
According to exoteric teachings in Taoist text, “revering Tao and advocating morality” and “longevity of life and immortalization” can be regarded as the two key conceptions of Taoism. However, ever since its establishment, Taoism was not only an ultimateconcerndimension religion but also a political ideological school succeeding the traditions of Emperor Huang and Lao Zi in the Qin and Han Dynasties, hence involving large quantities of worldly political ideological contents in Taoist teachings. Taoist view of freedom contains both freedom of external practice and freedom of internal spirit, meaning removal of external and internal obstructions. Since these two types of freedom were expressed mostly in an obscure way intuitively rather than logically, Taoism has trouble getting rid of involvement in DCM in its attempt to further reflect the relationship between freedom and nature and freedom and fairness.
