One of the leading writers of realistic literature in the new period of China, Lu Yao always persisted in writing for the people, regarding literary writing as a kind of unsmart labor. He firmly followed his own path of realistic writing and adhered resolutely to his attitude of concerning Chinese problems and aesthetic pursuit by going deep into life, and keeping a foothold on land.
