Abstract:
Since the kingdom of Zeng of the Ji Family was not recorded in existing historical documents, it is difficult to study its history, and more difficult to study the kingdom of Zeng of the Ji Family in the West Zhou Dynasty. Based on the newlyunearthed bronze inscriptions which provide precious materials about this, however, this paper explores the history of the founding of the kingdom of Zeng in the early West Zhou Dynasty, and the genealogy of Marquis Zeng in the day. The investigation shows that the second Marquis Zeng may be named as “Zhou”, while the third as “Li”. Moreover, the study infers carefully the relationship between Youfu, the second son of Marquis Zeng, and Xiangbo, Marquis Zeng himself. This offers a relatively clear understanding about the genealogy of the kingdom of Zeng and relevant historical clues.
