Abstract:
Fang Dongmei established his insightful views by bringing to light universal spirit, power of expression and public consciousness in Taoism. He pointed out that the Taoist statement of “I lose myself” intended to highlight its profound universal spirit. Only by getting rid of the first three types of “individual self” can we hope to reach the state of discovering the true subject, that is, “collective self”. Taoist power of Expression is manifested from the view of acquired language, so “identifying everything either by definition”,“or by causal analysis”“or by substance” is inaccurate. According to Taoism, the infinite system of ideology is simply a contrastive system between “Yes” and “No”, and correction of any extreme view can be attained by promoting public consciousness.
