Abstract:
Essentially based on the ancient Chang’an’s clear and abundant historical foundations, international Chang'an study has emerged as a project of historical studies in the historical course of modern Xian’s internationalized development. Among other things, the consciousness of problem historiography is the deep theoretical logic of the project. Close concern with the realistic problems in Xian’s development as an international metropolitan in face of the future depending upon the history should be the fundamental path of study international Chang’an study should persist in exploration. Therefore, a proper understanding of and close attention to problem historiography plays an important role of guidance in international Chang’an studies and is significant to constructing the theory and guiding specific studies of the project. Moreover, Marxist “pattern” of historical studies should be adopted as the actual theoretical precondition and pragmatism and the “pattern” of the school of annals should be organically combined to construct the theoretical guideline of international Chang’an studies.
