Abstract:
The economic value of ecological service of biological diversity, which has been rapidly degenerated because of climate changes, has long been neglected. As a result, study of this economic value has become a global issue. The study seems particularly urgent to western China, where biological diversity is both abundant and vulnerable. Only by legitimately identifying the effects of climate changes on biological diversity in western China can we hope to effectively evaluate the economic value of ecological service of biological diversity and its changes owing to climate changes and embed this value in the system of national economy so as to take effective measures to protect biological diversity and its ecological service. By means of the TEEB Framework of Evaluating the Value of Biological Diversity, this paper analyzes the identification of ecological service of biological diversity in western China under the circumstances of climate changes.
