Abstract:
The earliest of the existing printed editions of The Sutras of the Earthly Mother appeared in Chenggu County of Shaanxi during the Imperial Title of Tongzhi, but the editions differed in contents. The abovementioned edition spread to Nanzhang of Hubei in the reign of Emperor of Guangxu, and again spread from here to all over the country after the contents and diction were standardized. However, although the Chenggu edition was now cut and now added in the course of spreading, the main contents remained unchanged. In fact, no other local edition of The Sutras of the Earthly Mother has been found up till now.
