Abstract:
The Confucian bamboo slips are significant in carrying on Confucian heritage and enlightening Zisi and Mencius’s thoughts in the history of Confucianism. The character that the bamboo slips discussed doesn't refer to pure natural character but the moral character the Confucians always showed most concern with. Again the human nature theory they advocate follows an internal cognitive approach and shows an obvious tendency of virtuous humanity theory. Moreover, their understanding of destiny of “The heaven and men are different” and “Human thorough knowledge of the world won’t be obtained unless persisting protractedly in exploring nature” and their attitudes of “honestly reflecting on oneself” and “cautiously demanding for oneself” towards the heavenly destiny highly coincide with the statements of Conficius, Zisi and Mencius. All these evidently show the transitional features of Confucian academic thoughts.
